Approximately 60 students in grades 4th- 8th took to the stage to showcase their spelling skills in Spanish, during the competition. In the end, Cindy Graciano, a 5th grader from Sunrise Elementary took 1st place spelling "chĂĄndal" for the win. Emily Esparza, a 5th grader from Mesilla Elementary took 2nd place, and Paula PĂŠrez, a 7th grader at Picacho Middle School placed 3rd. Our first and second place students will represent LCPS at the NM State Spanish Spelling Bee which will take place in April. Congratulations to each student who participated and gave it their all, and we are proud of each participant!
